Chefs Kitch Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
Overview
Chefs Kitch helps your household track what is in the fridge, plan meals, build a family cookbook and make grocery lists. This policy explains what the app stores, why, who it is shared with, and how to delete it.
Chefs Kitch does not show ads, does not sell your information, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
What we store
Account: your email address and password (passwords are stored encrypted by our database provider and are never visible to us).
Beta sign-ups: if you join the beta on chefskitch.com, we keep your first name, email address and phone type (iPhone or Android) so we can send your invite. Email support@chefskitch.com to have it removed.
Household: the household name, the first names you enter for family members, cooking level, kitchen equipment (appliances), prep day, and invite codes.
Food preferences: the preferences, allergies and "never serve" rules you add, and eating habits such as days someone is not home. Allergy information is used only to keep unsafe meals out of your plan.
Kitchen data: fridge items and amounts, grocery lists, barcodes you have scanned, cookbook recipes, meal plans, ratings, which meals you swapped out, guests and leftovers you set, preference suggestions, recipe chat conversations, and recipe photos you add (stored with a private, unlisted link).
Receipts: when you scan a receipt photo or PDF, it is sent to be read and the items you confirm are saved to your fridge. The photo or PDF itself is not kept.
How it is used
Only to run the app for your household: showing your fridge and lists, planning meals that fit your family, suggesting recipes, scaling amounts, and sending the expiration reminders you allow.
Your household data is shared with the other accounts in your household (people who joined with your invite code). It is not visible to anyone else, except as described next.
Following: your household page is private unless you make it public. When it is public, people searching in the app can see your household name, its @handle, how many accounts it has and the first name of the person who started it. If it is public and you approve another household as a follower, they can see your planned meals for the week (titles, photos and recipes). They never see your fridge, grocery lists, family members or allergies. You can remove a follower at any time.
Guests: if the person cooking a night in another household invites you to dinner, that household sees your first name and your "never serve" rules for that dinner, so the meal is safe and sized for you. You see that night's meal on your own plan.
Services that process your data
Supabase (database and sign-in): stores your account and household data.
Anthropic (Claude AI): receives the text needed for AI features, such as your preferences and allergy rules, fridge items, cookbook titles, recipe chat messages and receipt images, to write meal plans, recipes and answers. Family members' first names can appear with their preferences (for example "Jordan: no pork"); your email address is never sent.
Sentry (crash reports): if the app crashes in a released version, technical details are sent so we can fix the problem: the error, the screen it happened on, the app version, and your device model and iOS version. Crash reports do not include your email, fridge items, recipes or family names.
Spoonacular (recipe database): receives ingredient names and recipe searches to find real recipes.
Open Food Facts (product database): receives the barcode number you scan to look up the product name.
Each service handles data under its own privacy policy. Expiration reminders are scheduled on your phone and are not sent to any server.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data is kept until you delete it or delete your account.
You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab ("Delete account"). This permanently removes your account, your membership in every household, and any household where you are the only member, including its fridge, lists, recipes and plans. In a shared household, the other members keep their shared data.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections. Each household can only read its own data, enforced by the database itself. API keys for outside services are kept on the server, not in the app.
Children
Chefs Kitch is meant for adults managing a household. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will appear in the app with a new date.
